LIVEMoonbeam officially closed its GLMR migration portal on July 31 at 23:59 UTC as the network winds down its operations on Polkadot to move over to Base. The migration process, which involved swapping locked tokens for a 1:1 ratio on the new network, only applied to free balances before the deadline. With the portal now shut, those who missed the window or had funds stuck in on chain protocols are left in a difficult position.
Data shows that approximately 25% of the total GLMR supply was migrated through the official contract before the cutoff. The remaining tokens held in staking, governance locks, or DeFi protocols did not follow the same automated path. Moonbeam warned users earlier in July that funds left in these protocols might become inaccessible once the migration period ended.
Now that the network has entered maintenance mode and stopped accepting user transactions, anyone who failed to bridge their assets must reach out to the project helpdesk for manual review. There is no automated portal for late claims, and the recovery process remains at the discretion of the support team.
If you held your GLMR on a major exchange like KuCoin or Bybit, the situation is different. Many exchanges handled the migration for their customers automatically. If your funds were in self custody wallets, check the official project channels for guidance, but prepare for a slow manual recovery process.
