LIVEMicroStrategy is taking a break from its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy this week. Instead of adding to its massive stash of 845,050 BTC, the firm is directing its capital toward repurchasing its own Digital Credit Securities. Former CEO Michael Saylor announced that the company bought $176 million worth of STRC and decided to double its total repurchase program from $1 billion to $2 billion.
Despite the pause in Bitcoin buying, the company remains in a strong position. With an average purchase price of $75,412 per coin, MicroStrategy is currently sitting on over $2 billion in unrealized profits with Bitcoin trading near $78,200. The firm also maintains a significant cash reserve of $6.5 billion in USD assets.
Market observers are watching how these financial maneuvers affect the stock price. The STRC shares, which dropped as low as $75 earlier this summer, have recovered to nearly $98. While some investors questioned the timing of the firm's previous Bitcoin trades, the current focus on the stock buyback program appears aimed at stabilizing and supporting the value of their own securities.
