LIVEKazakhstan is formalizing a major plan to build a national strategic crypto reserve fueled by its own domestic miners. The government recently approved regulations that allow mining companies to access electricity at capped rates on long term contracts. In return for this cheap power, miners must hand over 10 percent of their monthly production to a state managed fund.
This new policy targets large scale operations. To qualify for the electricity quotas, data centers must meet specific power and hardware requirements. The collected coins will be managed by the National Investment Corporation, which will treat the Bitcoin as part of a national reserve that can also include crypto linked derivatives and shares in industry companies.
Beyond mining, the country is looking to overhaul its broader digital asset infrastructure. The government plans to launch a new committee for digital assets, introduce tokenized government securities, and even explore using stablecoins for cross border trade. Officials are also offering tax incentives to encourage crypto holders to bring their activity into local, regulated exchanges.
This move positions Kazakhstan as a significant player in the global trend of nations accumulating Bitcoin. By formalizing these rules, the country aims to turn its cheap energy sources into a long term state asset. Traders should watch how these regulations affect the global mining hash rate as miners decide whether to accept these state supervised terms.
