Jane Street Reveals Over $1 Billion in Bitcoin ETF Holdings

Quantitative trading firm Jane Street confirmed a significant investment in Bitcoin ETFs during the second quarter of this year. According to a regulatory filing released on August 14, the firm holds over $1 billion across various spot Bitcoin products. The bulk of this capital is parked in the iShares Bitcoin Trust from BlackRock, which accounts for roughly $828 million of the total portfolio.

The data shows a sharp reversal from earlier in the year. In the first quarter, the firm had reduced its holdings in the BlackRock ETF by over 70 percent. This recent increase indicates that the firm has rebuilt its stake aggressively over the last few months. Alongside BlackRock, the report mentions positions in products offered by Fidelity and Grayscale.

While these figures show a major commitment to Bitcoin, market watchers should keep a few things in mind. Jane Street acts as a major market maker, so these holdings represent a single snapshot at the end of the quarter rather than a permanent directional bet. The firm also signaled interest beyond Bitcoin by increasing its exposure to other digital asset funds. The same filing revealed a large jump in shares held for various XRP products.
