Intel Falls Back Below $100 As Analyst Split Grows
Intel shares slipped back below the key $100 mark following a massive stock offering and a fresh price target cut from UBS.
coinbeat.newsIntel shares are back under pressure, closing at $96.68 after a 6.58 percent drop on Tuesday. The pullback comes just days after the stock briefly reclaimed the $100 level, driven lower by a UBS price target reduction and ongoing concerns about shareholder dilution from a recent capital raise.
The recent stock offering expanded from an initial $15 billion plan to roughly $23 billion, with Intel issuing over 210 million new shares at $95 each. While Bank of America analysts view the cash injection as a positive move for funding foundry scale and long term operations, they admit the larger share count will likely lower near term earnings per share by up to 5 percent. Meanwhile, UBS lowered its price target from $121 to $112 while maintaining a neutral rating.
Fundamentals paint a mixed picture for traders and investors. Second quarter revenue grew 25 percent year over year to $16.1 billion, led by a 59 percent jump in Data Center and AI sales. However, the foundry division still posted a steep operating loss near $2.1 billion, and the stock currently trades at a lofty forward price to earnings ratio of 102.
Market participants should watch the $96 to $98 support zone closely. A sustained move back above $100 on higher volume would help ease dilution fears, while another rejection could push the share price down toward the July lows.
