Hyperliquid Targets Polymarket With New Prediction Market Tool

Hyperliquid is taking direct aim at Polymarket by introducing a new upgrade called HIP 4. The proposal allows independent operators to create and manage their own prediction markets on the blockchain. Previously, this process was restricted to a small group of validators, which significantly limited the number of event contracts available on the platform.

To ensure participants remain committed to the integrity of these markets, the plan requires each deployer to stake 500,000 HYPE tokens. At recent prices, this amounts to roughly $32 million held in escrow. If an operator provides incorrect results or fails to settle a contract, validators have the authority to seize these funds. This structure aims to balance the need for rapid market expansion with strict accountability for those managing the data.

This move follows the successful implementation of the HIP 3 framework, which allowed developers to list their own derivative contracts. That program was a massive success, helping drive platform open interest to $11 billion earlier this year. By applying the same strategy to prediction markets, Hyperliquid hopes to replicate that growth and provide traders with a wider variety of event based betting options.

Looking ahead, the platform intends to start with a testnet rollout before moving to the main network. While the financial barrier to entry is high, the system offers operators a chance to earn up to 50 percent of the fees from the markets they manage. Traders should watch how the community reacts to these economic terms as the proposal moves through its final stages.
