LIVENasdaq listed treasury firm Hyperliquid Strategies is supercharging its crypto buying plans. The company has expanded its share sale agreement with Chardan Capital Markets, boosting the size of its equity facility from $1 billion to $2.5 billion. The main goal of this program is to raise capital by selling shares and using the proceeds to build up a massive treasury of the HYPE token.
While the $2.5 billion headline figure is massive, the company faces some near term limits before it can access the full amount. Hyperliquid Strategies has already raised at least $763.7 million through this share sale program. That leaves about $236.3 million in headroom before hitting the initial $1 billion mark, where stricter issuance rules kick in.
Once the company passes the $1 billion milestone, things get a bit more complicated. Under current rules, if the company wants to sell more shares below a price of $12.02, it faces a strict cap to prevent too much dilution. To go beyond this limit, the firm would need to get approval from its shareholders, or wait for its stock price to rise above that key level.
So far, the company's aggressive buying strategy has put a lot of tokens in its vault. An update from late August showed that Hyperliquid Strategies had spent $773.4 million to acquire about 16.5 million HYPE tokens. In total, the company holds roughly 29.3 million HYPE. Investors will want to keep a close eye on the company's stock price and shareholder votes to see how quickly it can deploy the rest of this $2.5 billion war chest.
