LIVEHyperliquid is planning to open its prediction markets to external developers. Currently, only the platform validators have the authority to list outcome markets. This upcoming upgrade will move the process to a permissionless model, where developers can deploy their own markets using standardized templates.
To participate, developers must stake 500,000 HYPE tokens for a six month period. This stake is worth roughly $30 million at current prices. The platform intends for this high barrier to ensure quality, as stakers could lose their funds if they create poorly defined markets or fail to settle outcomes correctly. In exchange, these developers can collect up to 50 percent of the fees generated by their markets.
This shift puts the exchange in direct competition with platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, which have seen massive interest this year. While validators will still manage a small number of core markets, the move aims to vastly increase the variety of tradeable outcomes available on the platform.
Investors should keep an eye on the upcoming testnet release and further community feedback. Since the terms are still considered preliminary, the exact rules for these deployments may change before they officially reach the mainnet.
