Georgia Man Poses as NBA Star to Swipe $90,000 Luxury SUV

Police in Georgia are searching for a man who managed to steal a $90,000 BMW X5 by pretending to be a professional basketball player. The suspect walked into the Hyatt Regency Savannah lobby on August 14 and used a valet ticket to drive away with the luxury SUV. He allegedly claimed to be an NBA player who had multiple vehicles parked at the location.

Investigators believe this was not an isolated incident. The man is also linked to the theft of an Audi and a Toyota from other hotels in the area. In those cases, the suspect used similar tactics to bypass hotel security and access vehicles that did not belong to him.

Authorities eventually tracked the stolen BMW to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Police have released surveillance images of the suspect, who is described as a man in his 20s or 30s. While he used the guise of a famous athlete to commit the crimes, police confirmed that no specific NBA player was actually involved in the case.

For now, the investigation remains ongoing as police ask for public assistance in identifying the man. Local hotels are urged to check their security protocols for vehicle retrieval to prevent further thefts using these methods.
