GameStop has agreed to swap $1.4 billion of zero coupon convertible notes for stock, a move that could retire about one third of its note principal. The filing covers roughly $400 million of notes due in 2030 and $1 billion due in 2032. While the zero percent interest rate means the deal will not immediately lower cash interest expenses, it replaces future debt repayment obligations with newly issued shares. The final share count remains unknown and will depend on a pricing period running through late September.

At the same time, details have emerged regarding how the company handles its crypto holdings. Regulatory filings show that nearly all of GameStop's Bitcoin has been pledged as collateral to Coinbase Credit under a covered call strategy. Because the firm does not directly control these digital assets, they were removed from the balance sheet and replaced with a digital asset receivable. Investors are currently waiting for official updates on both the final share dilution and the status of the renewed options contracts.

Traders should watch for increased volatility in both the stock and related notes as the closing window approaches. With the transaction expected to finalize around September 23, market participants are keeping a close eye on how corporate debt restructuring intersects with crypto asset management. Clearer disclosures on the collateral balance will likely dictate market sentiment in the coming weeks.
