A former pastor of the Happy Home Baptist Church in Nakina, North Carolina, faces serious legal trouble after being charged with embezzling church funds. Authorities arrested 23 year old Devin Cyrus Carroll on August 26, following accusations that he misappropriated 57,934 dollars for his own personal expenses.

The charges include 16 felony counts of embezzlement. According to arrest warrants, the money was used for various personal bills, including payments to a loan company, retail shopping, restaurant meals, and even a veterinary visit. These transactions reportedly spanned three states during his time at the church.

Carroll is currently held at the Columbus County Detention Center on a 75,000 dollar bond. This incident comes while he is already facing separate legal charges in South Carolina. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 17. The church has not released an official statement regarding the situation.
