Ethereum and Base developers have officially ended their work on a common account abstraction standard. The two teams tried to reconcile different transaction designs, known as EIP 8141 and EIP 8130, but those efforts ultimately failed.

Derek Chiang from Ethlabs shared the update on Monday, confirming that both networks will now pursue separate paths for transaction design. Account abstraction is an important upgrade for making crypto wallets easier to use by introducing features like social recovery and programmable rules.

This split means developers building on Ethereum and Base might need to adapt to different technical standards moving forward. Traders and builders should watch for how each network rolls out its own transaction design without a unified framework.
