Elon Musk's Boring Company Hits $23B Valuation After UAE Deal
Elon Musk's tunneling venture has secured a massive $3 billion funding round led by the UAE, pushing its valuation to $23 billion.
Elon Musk's tunneling firm, The Boring Company, has raised $3 billion in a new Series D funding round led by the United Arab Emirates. This massive cash injection pushes the company's valuation to a whopping $23 billion, which is about four times its valuation of $5.675 billion back in 2022.
The deal highlights the growing influence of UAE capital in major tech ventures. Middle Eastern sovereign wealth has increasingly found its way into the digital asset space too, with Abu Dhabi funds holding spot Bitcoin ETFs and a state vehicle backing crypto exchange Binance with $2 billion. Along with the UAE, top tier venture firms like Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital also backed the round.
The Boring Company plans to use the fresh capital to ramp up hiring and expand its transit networks in Las Vegas, Nashville, and Dubai. It is also upgrading its Prufrock tunneling machines, which can launch and retrieve without traditional pits or cranes.
The Las Vegas network has already moved over four million passengers, and the company is currently working on an international pilot in Dubai. Reflecting on the project, Musk noted that defeating traffic is the ultimate boss battle, adding that even the most powerful humans in the world cannot seem to defeat it.
