Dr. Squatch Agrees To $9 Million Settlement Over Natural Labels

Popular soap and deodorant maker Dr. Squatch agreed to a $9 million settlement to resolve a lawsuit claiming the company misled shoppers by marketing products as natural while using synthetic ingredients. The company denies any wrongdoing, choosing to settle to avoid the high costs and uncertainty of a long courtroom battle.

Consumers in the United States who purchased eligible products between late 2018 and mid 2026 can submit claims for payouts. Without a receipt, shoppers can claim up to $2.50 at fifty cents per item. Those with proof of purchase can receive up to $10. The total settlement fund also covers attorney fees, administrative expenses, and plaintiff incentive awards.

Audience members looking to file a claim must do so by November 27, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for March 2, 2027. While this case sits outside the digital asset space, large consumer lawsuits regularly highlight the strict standards companies face regarding product labeling and truthful marketing.
