Data Breach Exposes 15 Million Patients at DentaQuest

DentaQuest is facing a serious class action lawsuit following a cyberattack that exposed the private health and personal data of 15 million people. The legal complaint argues that the dental benefits provider failed to follow basic industry standards for cybersecurity, such as implementing multi factor authentication or providing staff with necessary training to spot phishing attempts.

The breach occurred between May 17 and May 20. Stolen information includes sensitive details like Social Security numbers, Medicare and Medicaid IDs, and specific dental and vision treatment records. Plaintiff Amanda Whitlow filed the suit in a Massachusetts court, claiming the company neglected its responsibility to protect sensitive patient information.
