Binance co founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, is calling for a new approach to crypto regulation in Southeast Asia. He suggests that ASEAN nations should adopt a passporting system for crypto licenses. This move would allow a business licensed in one member country to operate across the entire region without needing to apply for separate permissions in each place.

The main idea is to simplify the approval process for digital asset companies. Right now, firms have to deal with different rules and high costs for every single country they want to enter. CZ believes that making the process more uniform would drastically cut compliance costs and help businesses focus on building better products.

This shift could also lead to much healthier competition in the region. When it is easier for companies to expand across borders, more platforms can compete for users. This gives traders more choices and better services while making the Southeast Asian market more attractive to global investors.

While getting multiple governments to agree on a single standard is a big task, the proposal highlights the need for clearer regional rules. If regulators move toward this model, it could make Southeast Asia one of the most friendly places in the world for crypto innovation.
