Carrier Global, IMI plc, and Vertiv Holdings are showing distinct patterns in money flow that suggest the smart money is looking beyond the weather forecast.

Carrier Global is seeing quiet accumulation from institutional investors despite a recent price dip. While the stock has fallen around six percent over the last month, institutional indicators show steady buying since mid July. The company's recent acquisition of an AI focused automation firm suggests it is positioning itself to manage the heat generated by data center servers rather than just residential climate control.

In contrast, IMI plc is facing a cooling of its own institutional support. Large investors are slowly pulling back, even as retail investors push the stock into overbought territory based on heatwave fears. Since institutions own the vast majority of IMI shares, this declining bid pressure is a signal that traders should watch closely. The stock currently lacks the strong institutional backing that usually drives sustained rallies.

Vertiv Holdings presents a different scenario, as it struggles with regional sales weakness in Europe despite its dominance in the global data center space. Although the stock has dropped over 20 percent since June, institutional indicators have turned positive for the first time in weeks. With the company now part of the S&P 500 and heavily involved in high end cooling for AI infrastructure, big money appears to be betting on a recovery despite the current retail sell off.
