California YouTube TV Users Get Cash from $7.5 Million Settlement

California residents who subscribed to YouTube TV between February 2017 and October 2021 may be entitled to a payment following a $7.5 million settlement. The legal action centered on claims that Google and YouTube failed to properly disclose how automatic subscription renewals worked under California law. While the tech giants deny any wrongdoing, they chose to settle to avoid a long court process.

Eligible users who paid for at least one renewal during this timeframe could receive roughly $92.26. There are some exceptions, as the settlement does not cover subscribers who used the Apple App Store, those who cancelled during a free trial, or anyone who received a full refund.

If you believe you qualify, the deadline to file a claim is August 30, 2026. A final hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026, and payments are expected to go out about 105 days after that date. Those who prefer not to participate in the settlement must also act by the August deadline to formally exclude themselves.
