Brazil Tokenization Heats Up With Massive $2 Billion Credit Plan

Brazil is making significant strides in modernizing its capital markets through blockchain technology. Liqi Digital Assets and XDC Network have extended their partnership for two years and raised their total issuance target from $500 million to $2 billion. This move comes after the companies reached their initial goal nine months ahead of schedule, signaling strong institutional interest in tokenized credit.

Since the partnership began in April 2025, approximately $835 million in assets has been tokenized across hundreds of series and pools. The issuance includes trade receivables, corporate credit, and debentures involving major institutions like Itaú BBA and Creditas. By shifting these financial instruments onto the XDC blockchain, the firms aim to provide a more efficient system for auditable collateral and settlement.

This growth aligns with broader efforts by Brazilian regulators to oversee digital assets. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil, known as the CVM, recently formed a working group to study how to integrate distributed ledger technology into existing securities laws. This task force is currently examining the custody, trading, and registration processes for tokenized items.

Investors are now watching how effectively these private sector initiatives mesh with evolving government rules. While the $1.5 billion increase in the credit target is a significant milestone, the ultimate impact depends on the successful transition of these structured credit products into standard, regulated financial tools. For now, the rise in transaction volume on the XDC network suggests that market participants are increasingly comfortable using these platforms for real financial operations.
