LIVEA major consortium of over 140 organizations, including BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, and BNY, has announced the upcoming launch of a new stablecoin called Open USD or OUSD on the Ethereum network. The project is governed by an independent group known as Open Standard. Unlike typical stablecoins that centralize earnings, this model distributes reserve income across the partners who help grow the ecosystem. This development marks a significant step for Ethereum as a settlement layer for digital dollars.
The news comes as institutional interest in Ethereum continues to grow. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have seen strong interest, with BlackRock’s own fund attracting over $11 billion in net inflows. Experts believe that the addition of a major stablecoin project like OUSD reinforces the role of Ethereum in the global financial system and could lead to increased payment activity on the network.
From a market perspective, Ethereum is currently trading near $1,900. While the price remains below its 50 day moving average, traders are watching the $2,200 to $2,300 range as a critical resistance zone. If buyers can push the price above $2,000, it may open the path for further gains. However, the price is likely to remain in a consolidation phase between $1,850 and $2,100 until a new catalyst triggers more definitive momentum.
