LIVEA prominent crypto whale on the Hyperliquid exchange recently closed a large 40x Bitcoin long position. Data shows the wallet exited the trade on July 20 after selling roughly 1,897 BTC. The total exit was valued at approximately $122 million. By clearing these trades, the whale successfully avoided a liquidation point that was previously set near $61,605.
This move was a clear act of de risking rather than a sign of broader market expansion. The whale sold the bulk of the position at an average price of about $64,281, ensuring the position was closed before any potential price slide could force a liquidation. Because the position is now fully closed, the $61,605 liquidation marker is no longer a factor for other traders to watch.
While this whale has exited, significant leverage remains across the wider crypto market. Aggregate Bitcoin open interest is still measured in the billions, even as some exchanges report a slight decline in active futures contracts. With Bitcoin trading near $64,200, the market remains sensitive to fluctuations in spot demand and ETF activity.
Traders should monitor whether other large positions follow this lead or if leverage continues to build on major platforms. Since this specific liquidation risk is gone, future price pressure will likely come from other active accounts holding high exposure as Bitcoin continues to navigate current support levels.
