Bitcoin Surges Past $68k Triggering Nearly $2 Billion In Liquidations

LIVECrypto traders betting against the market took a massive hit today as Bitcoin prices jumped. Over the last 24 hours, about $1.93 billion in leveraged positions were wiped out. Market data shows that those betting on a price drop, known as short sellers, suffered the most with $1.75 billion in liquidations.
Bitcoin led the market movement, with $1.15 billion of the total liquidations tied directly to the leading asset. Ethereum traders also faced significant pressure, seeing $516 million in positions closed out by exchanges. In total, more than 127,000 individual traders were forced out of their positions.
Bitcoin is currently trading near $68,344, marking a gain of more than 5.6 percent over the last day. The sudden price move caught many investors off guard, showing how quickly market sentiment can turn. Traders are now watching to see if Bitcoin can maintain this momentum or if the market will experience a cooling period in the coming days.
