LIVEOrdinalsBot, which launched shortly after the Bitcoin Ordinals protocol went live in early 2023, announced it is shutting down operations. The team shared on social media that keeping the business going is no longer possible because the Ordinals market shrank sharply over the past year. Instead of just turning off the servers, the company decided to sell its entire asset portfolio through an open bidding process.
The sale package includes the main brand, intellectual property, domains, social media accounts, and more than three years of research spread across over ninety code repositories. The team hopes a new buyer can take the underlying infrastructure and use it as a foundation for future building on Bitcoin. Investors already know about the wind down, and the project has started receiving acquisition bids.
This closure is part of a larger trend hitting the digital asset space. Industry data shows that more than 120 crypto projects have closed, filed for bankruptcy, or gone dark this year. Traders and analysts are watching these closures closely to see how the broader market adjusts to shifting developer activity and funding pressure.
