Bitcoin Holds Steady While Gold and Silver Lose $700 Billion

Gold and silver suffered a major hit this week, losing roughly $700 billion in market value in a single day. Investors moved away from precious metals as a stronger dollar and rising interest rate expectations weighed on the market. Bitcoin remains steady near $64,000, standing out against the backdrop of falling precious metals. Data shows that investors have been pulling capital from gold ETFs at a much faster rate than from spot Bitcoin ETFs. For instance, the SPDR Gold Shares fund has seen outflows totaling $14.4 billion since March, significantly higher than the outflows recorded by all spot Bitcoin ETFs during the same period.

Institutional movement confirms the shift. Firms like Antalpha have significantly reduced their gold holdings, liquidating millions in assets as profits shrink. While analysts note that Bitcoin still moves as a macro asset tied to Federal Reserve policy and liquidity, its recent ability to hold firm during the metal selloff is noteworthy.
