Arizona Distributes 2.1 Million Eggs After Price Fixing Scandal

Food banks throughout Arizona are currently distributing more than 2.1 million eggs to families in need. This massive donation comes following a price fixing settlement involving major egg producers, including Hickmans Egg Ranch, Cal Maine Foods, and Versova.

State officials investigated these companies and found that they coordinated bids between 2022 and 2025 to artificially inflate egg prices. As part of a nationwide agreement, these firms agreed to pay 3.3 million dollars in penalties and provide over 53 million eggs to communities across the country.

St. Marys Food Bank in Phoenix is set to receive the largest share of the delivery, with significant portions also heading to United Food Bank in Mesa and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. The eggs are being distributed through a network of over 1,000 local partners.

Attorney General Kris Mayes stated that the move is about holding corporations accountable for illegal activity that harmed consumer wallets. This serves as a reminder of how regulatory oversight can push back against anti competitive behavior in the marketplace.
