Apple Removes Pump Fun App After New Stock Trading Feature

The memecoin platform Pump Fun faced a sudden setback Thursday as Apple removed its application from the App Store in the United States and India. This development occurred shortly after the platform launched a new feature allowing users to trade memecoins against tokenized versions of public stocks. While the app is now inaccessible in those regions, the team stated that existing users can continue to use the service as usual.

Pump Fun recently began offering 93 asset pairs that include tokens linked to companies such as Boeing and Costco. This aggressive expansion into equity based assets likely caught the attention of regulators and store operators. Although an official reason for the delisting has not been provided by Apple, the company has a history of pulling financial apps that raise compliance concerns or lack proper licensing.

This move adds to a series of legal and operational pressures for the platform. A federal judge recently allowed RICO claims to move forward against the company, and the UK financial authorities previously flagged the site for operating without authorization. Following the news of the delisting, the native PUMP token dropped about 12 percent, continuing a difficult trend for the asset since its launch.

For now, the platform remains available on Google Play and through its website for those outside of restricted regions.
