Amazon Hits 3 Trillion Milestone Before Quick Stock Pullback
Jeff Bezos prepares to sell millions of Amazon shares just as the tech giant retreats from its record valuation.
Amazon hit a major milestone this week as its market value pushed past 3 trillion dollars for the first time. The celebration was short lived as the stock price fell more than 2 percent on Tuesday. This dip occurred shortly after founder Jeff Bezos filed a notice to sell 15 million shares of the company.
Bezos filed the paperwork to sell his shares at a price of 271.58 dollars each. This valuation was based on the closing price from last Friday, rather than the all time high reached on Monday. Because the trade plan was established in November 2025, the sale is part of a routine schedule intended to manage his personal holdings rather than a reaction to current market conditions.
The recent rally for the company was largely fueled by strong growth from Amazon Web Services. The cloud division reported a 37 percent jump in revenue, which prompted several banks to raise their price targets for the stock. Even with massive spending on infrastructure to support artificial intelligence, analysts remain bullish on the long term prospects for the firm.
Investors should keep an eye on how the company manages its heavy spending on equipment. While Bezos is trimming about 1.7 percent of his total stake, he remains a major shareholder. Traders will watch for the official filing to see the final price achieved during the sale process.
